[멈춰라!]1)인터넷 시대라고 전보를 모르는 사람도 있을까요? 아마도 있을지도 모르겠군요. 어쨌든 위 실수는 “전보문의 구성과 그 특성에 대한 무지”에서 비롯된 것입니다. 2)전보문의 메시지는 계속해서 “멈춰라!”라고 그 전문을 수령한 자에게 명령하고 있는데요. 오해입니다. 여기서 "stop"이란 멈추라 (stop)라고 명령하는 말이 아니고요. 하나의 부호에요. 다른 말로 하면 영어의 풀스탑 (full stop), 즉 구두점의 마침표 (.)를 의미하죠. 원래는 full stop이라고 써야 하고 그 경우 “stop"이라고 써야 하는데 ”네 글자 단어는 무료“인 경우와는 달리 ”stop"의 경우에는 추가 요금을 물어야했기 때문에 그 당시 전보문을 작성할 때에는 그렇게 했다는 군요. 3)구글에게 물어보세요. “전보문에 쓰인 스탑이 무슨 의미입니까?”라고 www.google.com에 물어보아요? [comments]::1)It's time I gave a laugh. Let's begin with a hearty laugh. LOL.. I don't think the cultural disparity is all to blame to this kind of a blunder. As has been said over and over, sense should come first from a translator, a scholar or a learner whatever you name it. What is meant by sense? To crack the code word stop, it is the intuitive and instinctive feel that strikes you as odd that the word stop is placed in the telegram with regular intervals.


2)Sensibility should come next. I should like to point out a discovery that the word stop is placed at the end of a sentence, not at the beginning. So, the sensibility dictates to you that you must not jump to a hasty conclusion that the word stop is one-word sentence, an imperative sentence, that is, (Stop!) The translator has bungled this telegram job by giving imperative statements four times, (Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop!)


3)Why not ask Google, you the ignorant? This is the era Google runs the world. If the word 'runs' is too much, let's settle for the word 'influence.' This is the era Google gets most influential. In logical context, the sensibility of the era, I think, recommends you to go ask www.google.com with queries: the word stop in a telegram, and you will learn that the word stop stands for the punctuation mark full stop. The "stop", the elliptical form of full stop had been abandoned for reasons of extra fees.
